I want to buy a 30 gallon long glass aquarium and was wondering where I can purchase a new or used reasonably priced aquarium?

Craigslist is an excellent place to look. You may have to do some waiting for the right one to come along, but if you are willing to wait, you can find some great deals. I took my time and found a 60 gallon with stand, originally $300 for $80. Ebay is fine as well. Most of these sites won't ship because it is expensive and there is a chance that the tank would break during shipping and they won't guarantee that. So, you would need to be able to pick up your tank locally.

Are there any Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift stores near you? They almost always have aquariums that are new or slightly used. You can also check out yard/garage sales.
I've seen aquariums at stores like PetCo and PetSmart too though they seem to be pretty expensive. I'm not sure how much aquariums normally run for, but I guess you can check them out and see if they are within your price range. Just avoid stores that specialize in fish and aquarium supplies, they will charge you a fortune. Have you maintained an aquarium before? I haven't, but I do know that you need all kinds of filtration and stuff to keep the fish alive. You also need to have a very well supported shelf/stand to put it on -the tank is already heavy, and with that much water in it, it will be EXTREMELY heavy. If you fill it with tap water, you need to let it sit and distill for a couple days before you put the fish in. You can also try getting one online, like eBay, though shipping and handling will be expensive since it's so heavy and needs to be packaged so carefully. http://indoors.pricegrabber.com/fish-aqu... http://www.shopzilla.com/8B--Fish_Suppli... http://www.gonauticalgifts.com/prodDetai... http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.asp... http://search.ebay.com/30-gallon-aquariu... Good luck! |

I am not sure where you live but I don't buy a tank I make one. I purchase glass and bond it together with Cement which doesn't dissolve with water. Its the best that way. They are becoming popular...and they are also making that coffee tables. you can get three five foot pieces of glass and two 3 foot, cement them together and you have a tank about 200gallons. Which will look beautiful...that would cost you around 2000 or more...but go to the glass store, get poxy glass or pressure glass and it will run you like 600 or less.

Petco.com or petlanddiscounts.com. Petco has all kinds of aquarium kits but a 30 gallon tank is quite expensive. Check it out for yourself. Go to craigslist.com, and ebay.com for used equipent. Sometimes people want to get rid of their aquarium equipment and they sell it on craigslist and ebay. With craigslist, you can pick your city and state so you can pick up without expensive postal costs. That is your best bet. Also check out garage sales too...I go all the time and I have seen many times 30 gal. tanks with all accessories selling for practically nothing. Good Luck on your search.
